Bugs and insects worth a web page? Why do you think reindeer and whole tribes of natives used to migrate? Right dam insects. Got to go North to get where the wind blows and there are not so many insects because it is always windy!
Siberia, well you got those mosquitoes. But these are special ones, real special. Frozen in ice for 8 months, endured –50 degrees, I mean they come out warped and hungry. Have you ever seen an insect after coming to life? You've seen those horror movies!
And us poor humans, I mean these bugs and insects evolved to survive sucking blood from reindeer. How can a human stand up? You know how tough reindeer are, and boy do they stink.
Ya, they can not suck all your blood, but they can drive you crazy. If you have never experienced being bitten every minute or so by swarm of mosquitoes, well try it some time. A 100 or so buzzing around your head and you go nuts.
One that got our blood but did not get away.
Black flies
Mosquitoes well they bite you and really are only life threatening if you are out in the forest naked and tied to tree. Which does happen once in awhile.
Mosquitoes are slow, make noise, and you can feel them before they really suck your blood most times.
Well black flies, they land on you, and bite and take a piece out of you. At the right time of year they also put an egg in you. Yes, they leave a little present. These insects, you have nightmares about them.
All you know is you have a lump that itches. It may go away but 9 months later you have the bump back and it itches like hell, time of the year for the baby to come out. You may have scratched him out, but Mother Nature gets you as your body still thinks the egg is there. Little insects coming to get you!
So basically you go a whole year with a insect bite that does not heal. You are carrying a baby insect with you, gross!
Horseflies, alias Chernobyl Bugs
These are not normal insects - horse flies. They are big and can fly at 30 kilometers an hour. They don’t bite that much but they are scary.
Picture driving down the road with the window down and a squadron of these insects pull up beside you. That is what they do. They seem to sense the heat and come for a little look. Since you are not a reindeer, they peel off.
In the Gym
Well we try to keep the insects out, and fail. Killing twenty mosquitoes in one session, well it is normal. Going for your personal best lift, and you suck a bug in your nose, shit.
So bugs, well as one of our Englishmen said,
"We hate the bastards, but what can you do,
this is Siberia, their home, they got to eat too!
